Job description

 

The Village of Orland Park's Recreation Camp team consists of talented, fun-loving, experienced individuals who have a passion for creating a delightful, educational environment which allows enrollees in any number of our inclusive programs to not only participate in a multitude of activities but also stoke and encourage their creativity. We are currently seeking a responsible, energetic, and creative individual to take a lead role in overseeing one of our popular camp programs. As a Day Camp Program Coordinator, you will assist in having a positive impact on young, active minds. 

 

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating program activities including special events to meet program needs. In addition, this position will coordinate all staffing needs and provide direct supervision of 7 - 10 daycamp counselors (indirect supervision of inclusion staff). Responsibilities include evaluating and motivating staff while encouraging creative idea sharing to continually improve the programming.

 

This important role will also regularly communicate with parents and program participants, while providing oversight of administrative functions including time-sheets, registration, scheduling, calendars, and expenditures including purchasing supplies/equipment/inventory within budgetary guidelines.

High school diploma is required. An associate or bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred. A minimum of 2-5 years of related experience in recreation/education field. A minimum of 2 years of related supervisory experience is required. Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and passion for working with school age children is required. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office. A valid driver's license is required. CPR/AED/FA certifications are required.

 

This position must be available to work approximately 25-30 hrs/wk throughout the summer programming season May through mid-August. Must be available to work during the summer months from 8:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.
