Lab Assistant

Pay: $17.50/hour
Overview
This client is an industry-leading company focused on providing analytical testing for their clients. In this role you’ll be working to support the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory by receiving and prepping samples to be tested.
Schedule: Mon-Fri Day Shift
Responsibilities:
Perform sample preparation providing representative and homogenous sample for LC, GC, and Inorganic analyses. Each sample must be prepared following the matrix approved protocol.
Document all pertinent information for all samples logged in for residue and inorganic/nutrition laboratories including sample locations, descriptions, and equipment used for processing.
Upkeep of sample storage and disposal documentation for adherence to import permitting, company SOPs, and local or project specific sample tracking requirements.
Organize and maintain sample storage locations for sample location functionality and cleanliness.
Archive tested samples with destroy date displayed prominently and dispose of samples accordingly with documented traceability.
Wash and clean the labware and equipment between use and keeps the work areas neat and clean to avoid cross contamination.
Schedule activities to provide an accurate and timely service to support business requirements.
Enter data into the LIMS system for the tests performed and is responsible for the results.
Remain informed of hazards associated with chemicals, equipment, and their use in a laboratory setting. Work in a safe manner, using appropriate safeguards and personal protective equipment, to prevent injury to self and co-workers. Report all accidents or unsafe working conditions to the safety committee or management.
Qualifications:
High school diploma; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Biology, Chemistry, or related science from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
