This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite on Campus and remote.
The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science is dedicated to health and social equity and has more than 80 primary salaried faculty, 20 secondary faculty, 200+ personnel, 225 postgraduate students, and over 600 undergraduate majors. The School includes activities in the public health disciplines of behavioral medicine, biostatistics and bioinformatics, epidemiology, global health, health policy, health equity, public mental health, environmental and climate health, and preventive medicine. The School has strong collaborative research programs facilitated by Research Centers of Excellence focused on wireless and population health systems, health promotion and equity, women's health, and tobacco control, and has extensive collaborations with the School of Medicine, Jacobs School of Engineering, the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Moores Cancer Center, Design Lab, Qualcomm Institute, ACTRI, HDSI, Skaggs School of Pharmacy, and with other partners across the UC San Diego campus. Partnerships with the community and health agencies are fundamental to the School. The School houses five recharge cores providing services to UC San Diego and external customers. Research in the School includes ~$125M total awarded grants and contracts.
The School has and administers two PhD programs (public health and biostatistics), a Master of Public Health professional degree program, a Master of Science in Biostatistics, the only Health Sciences undergraduate program (BSPH), a Master of Applied Science in Leadership of Healthcare Organizations run in conjunction with UC San Diego Extension, and a Preventive Medicine Residency program.
The Health Services Research Center provides program evaluation and research services to a variety of health research projects. Under supervision, incumbent will contribute to a wide range of research implementation tasks, including evaluation planning, study protocols development, qualitative and quantitative data collection, and data management and monitoring. The incumbent will assist in monitoring project data and tracking participants over the course of the study.
The position is responsible for coordinating survey and data collection tasks. Data coordination tasks include organizing, entering, and verifying data using specialized data entry programs for entering large quantities of data generated from research tracking records, web-based and paper surveys, interviews, specialized assessment instruments, and electronic records. This also includes assisting in the preparation and fielding of large paper- and web-based behavioral health surveys and performs routine clerical tasks in support of multiple research projects, as required, including filing, copying, pick-up, and delivery, etc. Additionally, the incumbent will assist with qualitative data collection including conducting and transcribing focus groups, interviews, and listening sessions.
This position will maintain ongoing collaboration and direct communication with the PI, the PM and other research team members, and state and local partners to ensure successful partnerships, quality implementation of the research, and high fidelity to study protocols.
Lastly, the incumbent may perform literature searches, creates summaries and data/report quality assurance tasks, assists in the generation of reports, and performs maintenance of research related documentation.
Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training.
Working knowledge and experience with data collection activities.
Working knowledge of the design and implementation of data collection procedures and protocols.
Working knowledge and skills associated with report preparation.
Accurate HOMS, other data entry, and double data entry skills.
Ability to efficiently use electronic document scanning/verification software, such as Teleform, to batch enter data.
