The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND .

Your Responsibilities

As a Part-Time Student -Manufacturing Engineering  for John Deere Waterloo Works located in Waterloo, IA, you will...

• Maintain and update existing tools and processes.
• Identify and implement cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas of limited scope.
• Gather, review, and analyze information as directed by manufacturing engineers.
• Support multiple departments in daily functions.
• Produce a variety of correspondence and reports in support of department processes.
• Learn SAP business software to maintain and update part process and gaging instructions.

This position is not available to students on immigration visas.

What Skills You Need

• Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in an engineering,  technology, or computer science discipline; others may apply.
• Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited college/university.
• Graduation date of December 2025 or later.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
• Available to work during the academic year 16-20 hours/weekly.
• Available to work during the summer semester 35-40 hours/weekly.
• Must be able to commute to the work location in Waterloo, Iowa, on a daily basis year-round.
• Experience using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Good interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency using Excel advanced functions such as macros or pivot tables.
• Experience machining metal (turning, milling, drilling).
