The State of Connecticut, Department of Children and Families (DCF) is seeking qualified individuals for Supervising Psychologist 1 (Clinical) positions located at Solnit South Campus-Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) in Middletown, CT.

Your role as a Supervising Psychologist 1 (Clinical)

In this role, your main responsibilities will include providing direct supervision to clinical staff in addition to overseeing psychological testing for the PRTF including the ability to administer a variety of objective and projective psychodiagnostics tests.. Along with other duties as needed, we would have you:

• Supervise a major independent clinical psychology program
• Plan, develop, implement and coordinate new service programs
• Schedule, assign, oversee and review the work of staff
• Provide staff training and assistance

Position Highlights:

• Location: 915 River Road, Middletown, CT 06457, Solnit South Campus - Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF)
• Full-time, 40 hour per week
• Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm, with one evening 11:00am - 7:00pm position
• Schedule flexibility may be needed in order to meet the needs of the agency

Albert J. Solnit Children's Center- S outh Campus, Middletown

Located in Middletown, it is widely recognized as a center of excellence for family-centered treatment of children and youth with serious emotional disturbances. This state-administered Psychiatric facility provides comprehensive care to children and adolescents under the age of eighteen, with severe mental illness and related behavioral and emotional problems who cannot be safely assessed or treated in a less restrictive setting. The South Campus consists of four co-ed hospital units and three female adolescent Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility cottages (PRTF).

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In state facilities this class is accountable for supervising a major program component or other uses as indicated below.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Supervises a major independent clinical psychology program;
• Plans, develops, implements and coordinates new service programs;
• Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews the work of staff;
• Provides staff training and assistance;
• Conducts performance evaluations;
• Determines priorities and plans program work;
• Establishes and maintains program procedures;
• Develops or makes recommendations on development of policies and standards;
• Acts as liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding program policies and procedures;
• Selects and administers a variety of objective and projective psychodiagnostic tests;
• Evaluates individuals level of function and supervises staff in development of individualized treatment plans;
• Provides consultation on complex cases;
• Addresses professional and lay groups;
• May design, implement and direct psychological research programs;
• Performs related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

• Considerable knowledge of
  • abnormal and clinical psychology and other psychological disciplines;
  • sources, uses, administration and interpretation of a wide variety of psychological tests;
  • psychological research design, data analysis and application of results;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

A Doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology and two (2) years of postdoctoral experience as a licensed clinical psychologist.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience providing clinical services to children, adolescents and/or transition-age youth with complex psychiatric profiles and to their families
• Experience collaborating with community systems of care
• Experience implementing evidence-based practice and working as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team
• Experience providing clinical services to a culturally diverse population
• Experience utilizing varying testing measures with considerable knowledge and skill in selection, administration, scoring, and evaluating of intelligence achievement, and personality and diagnostic tests for adolescents

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a license to practice psychology in Connecticut. Any person employed by the State of Connecticut prior to July 1, 1985 with a title in the psychology series of the classified services shall be exempt from the above licensure requirements pursuant to Public Act 613, Section 119(c). For certain positions, the appointing authority may require State licensure.
• Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S. § 1320a-7b(f).
• Incumbents in this class may be required to be fluent in a foreign language or proficient in the use of the American Sign Language.
• Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
