Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm, Hybrid Schedule 2 days in office
The National Transportation Manager manages the daily operations of the transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, staff, and customer service for all DC’s. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities within Pet Food Experts.
Essential Functions:
- Provide support/guidance with routing, compliance, dispatching, and customer related follow up for each PFX location
- Ensure all DC’s Maintain, Implement, and Comply with FMCSA regulations & Pet Food Experts Policies, Standards, new rollouts
- Monitor equipment log and oversee the daily maintenance of all vehicles in the fleet
- Working with the Trans Compliance Specialists to Monitoring Driver Qualifications are all up to date & ensure Drug & Alcohol Programs are being completed
- Daily review of route weight/stops per DC, ensure route efficiencies are being met
- Conducts driver safety reviews and on road observations while visiting the DC’s
- Oversee and support the driver training program in all DC’s
- Coordinate safety meetings (once per year) in all DC’s
- Review risk management reporting with Fleet Supervisors and DC Mgrs to ensure they are address/train drivers to reduce company liability
- Work closely with Fleet Supervisors/Mgrs, DC Managers,and Director to monitor & review all monthly compliance issues, analyze Trans expenses, review equipment needs, and accidents-provide corrective actions when applicable
Experience, Knowledge, & Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Trans Management and/or Trans Safety experience
- Minimum 5 year Trans Mgmt or Trans Safety Mgmt experience required
- Comprehensive knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations impacting daily operations
- Public Speaking experience
- Ability to travel up 25% - each location minimum of twice per year
- Strong interpersonal skills to work in collaboration with all areas of Transportation company wide
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Dispatch software knowledge required
