Reporting to the VC-CFO, Information Technology Services (ITS) delivers Enterprise information technology services to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) under the leadership of the campus Chief Information Officer (CIO). Human Capital Management Information Services (HCM-IS) delivers Enterprise information technology services to the University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego). HCM-IS delivers quality and reliable systems and services that help our campus continuously improve business processes. Our combined technical resources, including web, mainframe and infrastructure are the foundation of the applications we develop.

Our combined technical resources allow us to build, integrate, host and deliver campus-wide enterprise systems for both our campus and collaboratively with other campuses within the UC system. Additionally the team offers custom integration and application development services, business analysis services and data management services for a variety of departments on the campus.

Responsibilities:

• Reporting to the Director of Human Capital Management, Information Services, the incumbent will serve as a lead of software Integrations and operations optimization efforts, applying advanced IT, improvement, and work management concepts to address complex business process needs. Collaborate with / advises business process owners on product selection. Utilizing advanced information systems and data warehouse expertise, lead implementation and integration efforts for selected campus/vendor/cloud hosted commercial systems ensuring appropriate data management and security. Manage business software operations and serve as database administrator.

• Applies professional concepts, department / unit and campus / medical center / OP policies and procedures to resolve a variety of complex issues in one or more IT areas of specialization. Analyzes complex issues. Within defined procedures and practices, determines appropriate action.

• Applies experience and abilities to utilize and further streamline work management processes with the use of Atlassian tools like JIRA and Confluence and apply deep knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to initiate and lead operations improvement efforts in support of the operational and work request responsibilities of the HCM-IS department and its business partners. Leads Kaizen-based efforts, guides others in the approach and methodology and contributes to the continuous improvement within the HCM-IS department as well as within the HCM business domain.

• The incumbent would have direct involvement in designing technical solutions, based on articulated business and process requirements, to business customers within the Campus and Health areas and be able to collaborate closely with stakeholders, process owners, and other ITS colleagues to define and execute strategically-aligned project plans and technical design requirements.
