JOB TITLE: 

Research Associate III: Beef Cattle Production and Management, Precision focus

This position is grant funded and considered at-will employment.  

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide research services by collaboratively designing and conducting a wide range of experiments, recording data, and preparing documentation requiring expertise in the application and adaptation of numerous production and research techniques and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in writing proposals for research grants; conduct awarded research.
• Write documentation; may give oral presentations to convey results of investigation to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Prepare reports for agencies as prescribed in grant/contract proposals.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data for subsequent investigations.
• Set up, conduct and correlate a variety of complex tests and experiments; evaluate adequacy and compare results to test objectives.
• Research literature to define additional research needs, perform specific methodologies and write progress reports and research summaries.
• Execute experiments for designated types of investigations.
• Perform or supervise experiments to ensure safety, efficiency, and adherence to quality control standards.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

• Travel to collect information to design, perform and present results of research, and learn new methodology.
• Work cooperatively with station personnel, with a variety of agricultural-based tasks and responsibilities.
• Opportunity to collaborate and instruct with Eastern Wyoming College, as part of a Joint Precision Ag program

This position involves on-call status.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master's degree in a field related to area of research, or equivalent experience

Experience: 3 years work-related experience with feeding, managing and operating equipment associated with beef production.

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: 

• Valid driver's license. BQA Certification, or willingness to complete within first 6 months employment
• Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy .

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• B.S. in Animal Science
• 3 years work experience specifically with feeding and managing beef cattle
• Ability to communicate effectively via written and oral communication
• Competency with current MS Office products
• Familiarity with current feeding practices and livestock techniques
• Ability to maintain, manage and troubleshoot computerized feeding management equipment.
