POSITION TITLE: Decatur High School Media Center Clerk DEPARTMENT: Schools REPORTS TO: Principal FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt WORK SCHEDULE: 190 days DATE REVIEWED: 11/2022 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and length of contract to be established by the Board of Education. PRIMARY FUNCTION: Supports School Library Media Specialists and Instructional Technologists in providing a well-managed, safe, and welcoming environment that supports personalized learning, includes flexible and equitable access to physical and digital resources, ensures a well-rounded education, and encourages respect for all.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. - Under the direction of the media specialist, supports the management of the resource collection through processing, organization, inventory, repair, and weeding to ensure the collection is accurate, accessible, and current.
- Support the facilitation of a climate of respect and communicates expectations for student behavior.
- Establishes a good rapport with students and faculty.
- Supports the maintenance of physical and digital learning spaces for diverse and evolving learning structures and accommodates a range of teaching methods, learning tasks, and outcomes.
- Supports equitable use of space and resources, allowing for any-time, anywhere learning opportunities.
- Supports circulation, reserving library resources, and scheduling library spaces to provide optimal student access.
- Supports a climate of respect and communicates expectations for student behavior. ? Participates in professional learning to increase skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities and serves on committees when needed.
- Evaluates, selects, and modifies culturally-responsive resources and activities to match learners' needs and meet the curriculum standards.
- Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent
- Participates in daily duties and responsibilities within the school including extracurricular responsibilities.
- Supports the district and local school vision, mission, and goals in words, actions, and behaviors.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises students and volunteers. SPECIFIC LIBRARY TASKS - Book Circulation
- Shelving books
- Processing new book orders
- Book Repair
- Maintain Library Displays
- Lamination of Instructional Materials
- Facilities maintenance
- Maintain Book Inventory
- Prepares library each morning for students and teachers
- Manages the Decatur High School Yearbook Archive
Instructional Materials/ Textbook Tasks - Works with interns to return textbooks and Classroom novels to book rooms
- Works with interns to process discarded textbooks
- Records titles of discarded textbooks per Wilson Center protocols and arranges for pick up
- Supervises intern or volunteer barcoding and processing of new textbooks and classroom novels.
Instructional Technology - Assists with Chromebook distribution and upkeep
- Assists students with google login and resetting passwords
Technology - Hardware - Assist with checkout and distribution of 1:1 Chromebooks.
- Maintain student and teacher technology including Chromebooks and Wifi
- Barcodes and manages technology peripherals and hardware used in the classroom (active panels, document cameras, projectors, sound equipment, headphones, iPads, microphones etc)
General Tasks Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. - Maintain effective working relationships with other people.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: - Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of college level coursework or passing of examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act.
- Prior experience working with children is desirable.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job shall be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: To perform the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, or hear. Lifting up to 30 pounds may be required on an occasional basis. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision and distance vision
