Summary:
The Product Developer 1 - Spirits & Beverages supports key segments in the development of new/improved wine, spirits, malt-based alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic mixers that will enhance company brands and products. Participates in the development of new methods and processes to further advance new and existing products.
What You Will Do:
• Supports the product development process of alcoholic/non-alcoholic spirits and wine products as well as product enhancers.
• Conducts experiments and assists with projects that are technically complex or Technical Development Oversight Committee (TDOC) projects.
• Tracks and facilitates sampling and prototyping for products; identifies and addresses key issues and challenges in product construction/manufacturing.
• Supports the screening and selection flavors for beverage formulation; executes tests of new alcoholic beverage products, line extensions to existing portfolio.
• Participates in the development of appropriate methodology and timeframes needed to develop products, along with consumer insights, marketing and product development, or winemaking partners.
• Compiles information from multiple disciplines and presents results in the context of the business opportunity from a functional perspective.
• Creates and maintains appropriate documentation for developed products; ensures all appropriate development documentation is maintained including product specs, costing and prototype notes.
• Conducts and monitors flavor stability and long term beverage stability evaluations.
• Maintains confidentiality to proprietary information, processes, and product formulations.
• Applies TTB regulatory standards as it pertains to developing new beverage formulations.
• Participates in department and interdepartmental planning and management teams; works cross- functionally to improve processes within organization.
• Executes tasks to ensure goal achievements, objectives, and the successful completion of project timelines.
• Participates in the assessment of product portfolio for diversification and performance, recommends opportunities for growth and improvement and guides the development of the individual style targets.

What You Will Need:
• Master of Science degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field plus 1 year of food and/or beverage product development, research, or winemaking/spirits making experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR
• Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field plus 3 years of food and/or beverage product development, research, or winemaking/spirits making experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR
• High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 7 years of food and/or beverage product development, research, or winemaking/spirits making experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
• Required to possess the physical ability to discriminate basic tastes, aromas, and visual colors.
• Required to be 21 years of age or older.
• Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
What Will Set You Apart:
• Master of Science degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field plus 3 year of food and beverage product development experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field plus 5 years of food and beverage product development experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 9 years of food and/or beverage product development, research, or winemaking/spirits making experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
• Gallo Winery research or production experience.
Compensation:
• Hiring Salary Range Posted: $73,700 - $110,500 / year
• Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
