POSITION SUMMARY: An apprentice electrician will be working under the observation of a journey-level electrician, building basic skills and gaining additional tasks and responsibilities as they improve. Apprentices will receive a combination of classroom education and paid on-the-job experience. Skills that are developed may include, but are not limited to how to design, install and repair commercial or residential electrical systems, as well as how to install and maintain data-telecommunications wiring.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: - Identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and assist with repairs of equipment and electrical faults.
- Register and attend qualified Apprentice program
- Complete electrical installations and carrying out various maintenance duties.
- Bend conduit
- Use measuring equipment and hand tools to perform conduit work
- Follow safety codes and building regulations
- Previous electrical experience helpful.
- Duties include pipe bending, wire pulling, running conduit, installing fixtures and outlets.
- Be safety conscious and abide by company safety policies.
- Read, understand and follow the company policies and procedures.
- Attend all scheduled work-related training.
- Oral and written skills and ability to communicate with other workers, craftsman, and other trades
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to travel out of town during the week and/or weekends
- Able to work with basic hand tools.
- On-going training and education at home or work location.
- On-the-job task and equipment training.
- In-person and classroom safety training.
- On-line safety training.
- Housekeeping and general clean-up duties – indoors and/or outdoors.
- Job site, yards, storage areas, office, fabrication shop, mechanic shop, other work locations.
- General material, equipment and tool inventory, tracking and control – indoors and/or outdoors.
- Inspections (random and scheduled) for day/night jobsite and building security at job sites, yards, storage areas, offices, fabrication shops, mechanic shops and other work locations.
- Vehicle and equipment inspections, compliance checks and recordkeeping.
- Unloading/loading materials, equipment and tools.
- Vehicle and equipment preventative/scheduled maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Electrical Apprentice license
- Must have own transportation to and from work sites.
- Able to follow directions and work independently
- Must have a valid Utah Driver's License.
- Must have clean driving record
- Must be able to work in a drug free work environment and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must be able to pass a level 3 background check
- Follow all safety requirements
- At least 18 years of age or older
- High School Diploma, GED or Equivalency
- Able to Pass Basic Algebra Test, Color Perception Test and Drug Screen.
JOB TYPE: EDUCATION: - Electrical Apprentice License
- Enrolled in qualified Electrical Apprentice program
EXPERIENCE: - Prefer 6 months to a 1-year experience working as an Electrical Apprentice.
- Training available.
