POSTION SUMMARY
As the Vice President of Marketing for our small pharmaceutical company specializing in rare liver diseases, you will be a key leader in driving the development and execution of marketing strategies. Your primary focus will be on creating awareness, promoting brand recognition, and supporting the commercialization of our innovative products within the niche markets of rare disease. This role requires a seasoned marketing professional with a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, rare diseases, and a proven track record of successful marketing campaigns.
JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES - Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement comprehensive, data driven, marketing strategies aligned with overall business objectives.
- Oversee development and execution of product brand plans to meet and exceed corporate objectives, on time and on budget.
- Lead the team responsible for the organization’s new product and new indication launch and brand planning efforts; ensure goals and initiatives are achieved.
- Partner with market research team to develop primary & secondary market research plans that optimize decision making and market intelligence. Translate insights into brand and operational activities based on strategic imperatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure marketing strategies are integrated with other business functions.
- Brand Development:
- Lead the development and management of the brand identity for our rare disease products.
- Lead the teams responsible for creating and executing impactful brand positioning, messaging, and value propositions.
- Develop overall portfolio positioning and messaging.
- Ensure consistency in brand communication across various channels.
- Product Launch and Lifecycle Management:
- Lead development and execution of launch plans for new products, including promotional campaigns, key opinion leader engagement, patient & caregiver community engagement and partnering on market access strategies.
- Implement strategies to maximize product lifecycle and market penetration.
- Market Access and Pricing:
- Collaborate with Market Access teams to develop pricing strategies that align with market dynamics and ensure product accessibility.
- Work closely with reimbursement teams to secure favorable reimbursement for our products.
- Digital Marketing and Multichannel Campaigns:
- Oversee the development and execution of digital marketing initiatives, including online campaigns, social media, and other digital channels.
- Implement multichannel marketing strategies to reach diverse audiences.
- KOL Engagement:
- Establish and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and advocacy groups in the rare disease communities.
- Leverage KOL insights to inform marketing strategies and enhance product positioning.
- Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve business goals.
- Team Development:
- Lead a talented, proven, and collaborative team throw continued company growth and new product launches.
- Attract, retain, develop and lead the marketing team to maximize commercial success.
- Work collaboratively with Sales, Market Access & Insights, Patient Advocacy, Medical Affairs, Finance, Supply Chain and others to accomplish goals.
- Ensure the activities under his/her responsibilities are in line with the company policies and procedures. Ensure strict adherence to compliance guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of experience with increasing levels of responsibility across commercial disciplines in marketing and sales, predominantly in the biopharmaceutical industry
- Marketing/brand leadership and launch experience.
- Rare/ultra-rare, patient-centric commercial experience desired. Pediatric and/or liver experience is a plus. Market development experience in un-commercialized markets, including supporting patient identification efforts, is a plus.

- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to create a team environment.
- Sufficient depth to translate complex clinical/scientific information into brand strategies and communications across a variety of stakeholders, including specialist MDs to families.
- Technical expertise in end-to-end lifecycle management of a brand, launch planning and execution, and disease area assessment; support of R&D through the drug development process.
