The Infrastructure Engineer will work with the infrastructure team to provide design, engineering and deployment support of the on premise and cloud infrastructure. Provides system monitoring and ongoing support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for infrastructure equipment (switches, firewalls, WiFi, hosts, etc.). Assists with virtual and physical infrastructure, and storage networks, including “on-call” response. Contributes to the development and implementation of preventative best practice policies and procedures to ensure the highest level of network optimization, system up-time, and system security. Cross trained to provide core backup infrastructure staff.
Responsibilities:
- Use established tools to monitor network and server infrastructure and act on critical alerts and notifications to prevent or limit system downtime.
- Support the installation, optimization, integration, troubleshooting and upgrades of all infrastructure systems and components.
- Oversee ISP public IP assignment and public DNS records management.
- Administer installation, configuration and maintenance to network devices, including Fortinet firewalls, switches, routers, load balancers using established change management procedures; maintain a backup strategy for network devices; install and maintain current patch level; routinely audit configurations.
- Manage O365 environment and MIMECAST Smart hosts as needed.
- Administer and routine VMware ESX & vSAN tasks.
- Keep current with emerging technologies as they apply within the domain of this position.
- Provides backup support to the Support/Systems Administrator.
- All other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- This position requires a minimum of an Associate degree in computer science, information systems, or other related disciplines or any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
- 3-5 years of experience configuring and managing physical and virtual computer networks; Fortinet, Cisco, ESX, Azure AD, and Office 365 is desired.
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure security best practices.
- Proficiency in writing and updating policies and procedures.
- Ability to analyze, evaluate, and troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Excellent organizational, research, and communication skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated continuous learning to remain current on new concepts and carry out technical research.
- Demonstrated ability to gain consensus in a diverse working group that may involve both IT and business leaders across multiple disciplines.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation tools.
- IT certifications in Cisco, Fortinet, Microsoft, VMware, or other network-related fields are desirable.
