Job description

Birch Hill Catering is looking for line cooks to join our growing team for daytime, evening, and weekend shifts. Our ideal candidate is attentive, motivated, and autonomous. Reliable transportation is a must.

Birch Hill Catering is located at 1 Celebration Way in Castleton-on-Hudson, NY. We are are a banquet house with nearly 90 years of experience in weddings, reunions, corporate events, and gatherings of all kinds.

Responsibilities

• Knife skills, chopping, cutting of fresh vegetables and proteins. Preparation of meats, sauces and sides in accordance with event menu and client preference
• Cook menu items in cooperation with and direction of the executive chef
• Work neatly and efficiently to ensure food safety and control product cost
• Proper storage and rotation of food inventory at all times
• Work a combination of cooperative and independent styles to ensure promptness of service

Qualifications

• Commercial cooking and/or other similar food service experience is necessary
• Reliable workplace attendance, effective communication in regards to scheduling
• Availability during weekends, including potential for overtime during high volume weeks
• Able to anticipate needs of others in the kitchen and act proactively
• Effective time management and interest in providing both quality and quantity
