Controller/Assistant CFO/CFO
Bessolo Design Group A Full service Architectural, Engineering, & Interior Design firm located in St. Petersburg, Florida Bessolo Design Group, an award winning and highly rated Fast 50 Company by The Tampa Bay Business Journal is expanding and seeking an Experienced Controller/Chief Financial Officer. We are looking for a Candidate with professional service company experience, preferably in Architecture, Engineering, or Interior Design, who is interested in being part of a growing and dynamic work environment. Qualifications for this position include the following: Experience in: General Accounting, Project Cost Accounting, Federal Tax Planning and Review, Revenue and Billing Management and Forecasting with exposure to integrating all Accounting Functions with Production, Operations and Project Scheduling. Legal Contract Review and Insurance and Legal Risk Management in an Architectural, Engineering, Interior Design or Professional Services company. Managing In-house Payroll experience. At least 20 years of Senior Supervisory/Management experience as a CFO, Assistant CFO, or Controller. Bachelor’s Degree required and a CPA/CMA preferred. Excellent management and training skills required with an ability to think outside the box. Consulting experience helpful. This position requires a great amount of interaction with the Operational staff of the firm and an ability to consistently find solutions and improve both Financial and Operational processes. This is a hands-on proactive position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Responsible for overseeing the General Accounting functions including preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements; annual tax returns, statistical reports, ensures maintenance and integrity of accounting systems, reviews and analyzes monthly operational results to identify and evaluate problem areas, and present solutions to management team Conducts Ad Hoc reviews and reporting Responsible for overseeing the preparation and reporting monthly financial statements Assists the CEO/President in the preparation of short term and long-range plans and annual budgets based on broad corporate goals and growth objectives Manage all aspects of Risk Management/Legal Interprets operating results as they affect the financial aspects of the firm and makes specific recommendations, which will result in operating and cost efficiencies Preparation/Review of revenue and cash forecasts Exercises supervision over the maintenance of the firm’s chart of accounts, assigns new classifications and cost centers as necessary Is responsible for the correct and accurate accounting classification of all revenue, expenditures, fixed assets Review of project proposals, AIA contracts, consultant contracts and legal filings to ensure appropriate business language and terms Acts as immediate contact with the firm’s outside CPA’s on accounting matters including tax planning and preparation of financials for annual tax filings Oversees preparation of sales, payroll and other tax items as they arise Directs the preparation of statistics for periodic and yearly financial statements, including the preparations of charts and graphs showing progress, conditions and results. Provide specific reporting to President, CFO, and Senior Management. Responsible for filing of externally required reports and governmental filings Maintains relationships with various banking institutions for the maintenance of accounts Responsible for calculation of the overhead recovery and bill rates Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities, expectations and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood Ensures that all organization activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations Manage, oversee, train and mentor staff who are responsible for AP, AR, and Payroll, Collections, Reconciliations, Cash Reporting and Project Cost Accounting Oversees Accounting and Project Software Available to perform duties including attending meetings as appropriate during and outside of normal working hours Responsible for implementation of company policies, procedures and standards Supervise preparation of annual operating budget and variance reports for senior management Develop and implement financial controls to ensure the integrity of reported information Perform operational analysis and financial forecasting Negotiation of all lending, benefits, insurance and purchase contracts Tax analysis, reporting, and documentation to ensure proper tracking for maximizing tax savings & detailed audit trail Company expense reduction and tax reduction strategies Process and Procedure Creation and Improvement Manage lien filings Manage company 401K program Manage the obtaining and tracking of Professional Licensure for our companies and professional level employees for multistate work Assist in overseeing the implementation of a new accounting and project management software Other Preferred Qualifications: Min Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA preferred but not required for the right candidate.
