Job description
Lighthouse Lab Services is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Pathologists' Assistant to join a hospital in beautiful Wenatchee, WA! This role involves collaborating closely with a team of esteemed pathologists to ensure the accurate preparation and examination of pathology specimens. As a Pathologists' Assistant, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking advancements in healthcare.
$15,000 sign on bonus for this position!
Responsibilities:
1\. Gross Examination Expertise: Conduct precise gross examinations of surgical and autopsy specimens, demonstrating expertise in organ dissection, documentation, and photography as needed.
2\. Specimen Handling: Assist in the proper handling, processing, and preservation of pathology specimens, adhering to strict laboratory protocols.
3\. Data Management: Maintain meticulous and comprehensive records of specimen information, gross findings, and other relevant data through proficient use of laboratory information systems.
4\. Quality Assurance: Play an active role in maintaining and improving the quality control measures within the laboratory to ensure accurate and reliable results.
5\. Collaborative Teamwork: Foster effective communication and collaboration with pathologists, laboratory technologists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize the specimen examination process.
6\. Continuous Development: Stay abreast of advancements in the field of pathology through ongoing education, training, and participation in professional development opportunities.
7\. Training Support: Provide guidance and support to junior staff and participate in the training of new team members.
Qualifications:
1\. Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field, accompanied by the completion of an accredited Pathologists' Assistant program.
2\. Certification: ASCP certification as a Pathologists' Assistant is preferred
3\. Experience: 1+ years of hands-on experience in a pathology laboratory setting is preferred BUT new grads will be considered
4\. Skills:
\- Proficiency in grossing techniques and laboratory procedures.
\- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
\- Clear and effective communication skills.
\- Attention to detail with a commitment to quality outcomes.
\- Familiarity with advanced laboratory information systems.
