Job description

The Salvation Army Midland Division Shelter located in Jefferson City, Missouri, is looking for a Driver! Will be responsible for driving vehicles weighing 10,001 lbs. - 26,000 lbs. to transport donated/purchased goods for TSA Shelter and Social Service programs. This position will drive, lift, and carry donated/purchased items for the Center of Hope and Thrift Store, or elsewhere as directed. Most of the work done in this position will be of the physical labor type. Also a Class E License is required.

This is a part-time, 25 hours a week, position that pays $14.00 per hour.

Essential Functions

• Be responsible for routine maintenance of vehicle.
• Drive to pick up donated merchandise in the Jefferson City area from local businesses.
• Assist the Thrift Store in picking up donations as requested.
• Responsible for loading and unloading donated goods.
• Keep track of all donated goods and report information to supervisor for Gift in Kind tracking each month.
• Clean the vehicle each day after route is completed.
• Operate the vehicle in safe manner and in compliance with The Salvation Army Fleet Operation Manual

Experience and Education

• High school/equivalent diploma and one year of related work experience or two years' work experience without diploma.
• Position requires basic communications with customers and other employees.
• Ability to comprehend written job description, city map, cleaning instructions, and material safety data sheets.
• Appropriate state drivers' license is required, at least a class E for MO, and must pass TSA MVR check.
• Must pass a road test, and a D.O.T. physical before operating a D.O.T. regulated vehicle.
• Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimum supervision.

Physical Working Conditions

• Must be capable of performing the above essential duties.
• Frequently lifts 30 pounds, occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds and frequently moves 100 pounds or more using dolly/cart/truck.
• Occasionally climbs a ladder to work (replace light bulbs, etc.).
• Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
• Majority of lifting is from floor to waist high.
• Some lifting required above waist and shoulder height, but it will be at a reduced weight.
• Position is expected to: Bend, stoop, crouch, stand, walk, carry and push/pull items.
• Some of this work will be outdoors and will be cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
