Job description

Position Summary:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.       Contribute to the research mission of the department and teach in the Cell Biology, Neuroscience and Physiology Track in the graduate school.

2.       Maintain scholarly activity and keep up to date with developments in the field of cerebral blood flow integration and integrative human physiology  to carry out  the requirements of the position.

3.       Design, develop and plan of teaching activities within the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences Graduate School.

4.       Continue research projects to maintain grant funding to support laboratory functions.

5.       Mentor students undertaking research projects as appropriate and sit on appropriate academic committees'.

6.       Maintain a high quality of regular and original research publications as related to current research.

7.       Participate in the monthly Department Seminar series by presenting current data in lecture format.

8.       Assist in the recruitment, management, and development of staff and act as a mentor to colleagues in the department and throughout the RBHS community.

9.       Understand and adhere to Rutgers' compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

10.   Perform other related duties as assigned.

Corporate Compliance Responsibilities
1.   Keep abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers' regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified. 

Minimum Education and Experience:

Minimum Education/Specialty, License/Certification:

Ph.D. in physiology, pharmacology, neuroscience or a related field with experience in in vitro electrophysiological techniques. Successful completion of a post graduate training program.  A sustained accomplishment in education, contributions to knowledge and service.

Ph.D. in physiology, pharmacology, neuroscience or a related field. Successful completion of a post graduate training program

Preferred Qualifications:

Surgical, neuroanatomical and electrophysiological techniques

Expertise in performing stereotactic brain microinjections, intracerebroventricular cannulation, osmominipump implantation, cerebral blood flow measurement in rodents, primary astrocyte and neuronal culture, organotypic culture, mitochondrial bioenergetics, rt-q PCR , and western blot.
