Job Overview: Work as part of a multidisciplinary Health and Wellness Team on a thriving, fast-paced college campus. Oversee daily operations of the Student Health Clinic and ensure compliance with industry standards in terms of maintenance of health records and clinical care. The Nurse Practitioner will triage, evaluate, and treat students when appropriate for acute and chronic individual health problems and other direct care within the scope of practice. Properly document medical information and maintain up-to-date patients' medical records, provide health education and counseling to students, complete annual student health surveys as required, maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to student health care, cooperate as a member of the Health Services team to ensure coordination and continuity of care to our diverse student population. Additionally, opportunities for delivering health education programs on campus and collaborating in strategic initiatives with other departments on campus.
Essential Functions: Perform daily operations of the Health Clinic including, but not limited to:
Clinical Care
- Triage and assess students within scope of practice (i.e., diagnose, treat, refer)
- Assess and educate students on health promotion and/or potential health risks.
- Refer students to on and off-campus resources as needed.
- Make clinical recommendations for students and clinics within the scope of practice.
- Manage medical supply inventory.
Managing New Student Health Compliance
- Educate clients and colleagues on health form requirements and procedures.
- Oversee receipt and review of health forms before each new semester.
- Maintain medical charts and document compliance.
- Communicate with students and parents/guardians regarding requirements, place and lift medical holds for noncompliance, and participate in new student orientation.
Health Promotion
- Prepare and deliver campus-wide health education and prevention programs on a variety of health-related topics.
Collaborate/Participate in strategic initiatives within and external to the department/division.
Qualifications: - Special licenses/certifications required: National Certification and Licensure as APRN
- Years of related experience required: 3 years working as a Nurse Practitioner
- Required computer/technical skills: Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suites
Education: APRN
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: - Outpatient, ambulatory care and experience in adolescent/ young adult years.
- Experience as an independent practitioner.
- Excellent communication, customer, and student focus, building relationships, and
organizational skills.
Working Conditions: 10 months, August - May. Part-time salaried position. Flexible Schedule. 20 hours per week, mostly Monday through Friday, but some nights and weekends.
