Job description
Job Title: Operating Room Nurse
Location: Ithaca New York
Type: Contract
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other members of the surgical team to plan and prepare for surgical procedures.
- Assess patient health status and develop individualized care plans based on pre-operative assessments and surgical requirements.
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and sterile.
- Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by passing instruments, monitoring patient vital signs, and maintaining a sterile field.
- Monitor and evaluate patient responses to surgical interventions and communicate any changes or concerns to the surgical team.
- Provide post-operative care and support to patients, including monitoring vital signs, managing pain, and assisting with wound care.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Adhere to all regulatory guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and patient safety in the operating room.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain clinical competency and stay updated on best practices in perioperative nursing. #HCC
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program and current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- 2 yrs of experience working as an Operating Room Nurse in a surgical setting.
- Strong clinical skills and the ability to provide compassionate patient care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Critical thinking abilities and the capacity to make sound clinical judgments in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary surgical team.
- CPR certification and additional certifications in perioperative nursing (e.g., CNOR) preferred.
