Job description
Tractor Trailer Drivers are responsible for hauling trailers of waste or recyclables to a disposal site or recycling plant. Drivers are exposed to extreme weather conditions and unpleasant odors and sights.
Days: Monday - Friday Hours: 6:00 am - 8:00 pm Responsibilities of Position: - Operates truck in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
- Timely and efficient pick up of trailers and deliver to designated destination.
- Maintains and updates route sheets.
- Conducts pre-trip/post trip inspections and complete logs.
- Maintains and updates Drivers Log sheets.
- Interacts with internal and external customers.
- Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
- *Specific to Lexington Location: Responsible for picking up bales from the ground at various stops and using a skid steer and ramps to load them into 53ft van trailers.
- *Specific to Lexington Location: Utilizing an app on your phone to log bale counts and number of stops each day.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities Needed for Position: - Ability to read and understand a map.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including but not limited to sitting, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing, and lifting).
- Excellent truck driving/maneuvering skills.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
Additional Working Conditions/Aspects: - Must have at least a valid ClassA CDL with Tanker Endorsement
- Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire.
- Must be at least 19 years of age.
- No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
- Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
- Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.
- Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
- Ability to workflexible hours; overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
- Must be able to read and speak the English language.
