The Tech III - Records Center is under the general supervision of the Records Center Manager within the Division of Records Management. This position represents the Secretary of State to other state agencies which will require a helpful and professional demeanor. This position must operate within the restrictions of state and federal statutes and regulations as well as agency policy.

Job Functions and General Responsibilities:

• Use the Records Center tracking system to add bar code labels to boxes, files, and shelves, and query the database to locate and retrieve/refile requested boxes/files including those authorized for disposition.
• Use bar code scanners to check in/out agency records.
• Maintain daily logs using spreadsheets and databases.
• When needed, drive delivery routes and interact with agencies to pick up and deliver agency records while driving state vehicles.
• Coordinate, with manager, file/box requests from state agencies and appraise when files/boxes will be delivered.
• Coordinate, with manager, refiling and reshelving of returned files and boxes.
• Coordinate, with manager, outbound and incoming freight shipments.
• Responsible for general quality control of staff use of the Record Center tracking system.
• Keep supply inventory - labels, plastic wrap, search memos, out cards, knockdown boxes, etc.- and handle vehicle maintenance logs, schedule preventive service.
• Assist Tech II's in the training of newly hired Tech I's.
• Manage day-to-day records center operations in the manager's absence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Records Center Manager or the Director of Records Management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of e-mail, spreadsheets, and ability to enter information into a database with accuracy; ability to access and maintain data.
• Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with coworkers and state agency employees.
• Ability to drive state vehicles for the transport of records.
• Ability to lift and carry 80 lbs. repeatedly throughout the workday.
• Ability to access and maintain customer data.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to operate a forklift and other Records Center machinery.
• Ability to use Records Center ladders and work assist vehicles to retrieve cubic foot boxes and/or document storage boxes.
• Must have and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license.
• The ability to travel statewide.
• Prior experience in records center or distribution operations preferred.
