Position Title: Loan Officer Trainee or Loan Officer/Lender (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
Salary Grade: $50,000+ commensurate with experience and qualifications
plus superb benefits package provided to all employees including up to 9% 401k contributions and profit sharing program
Position Summary:
Colonial Farm Credit (www.colonialfarmcredit.com) is an agricultural credit cooperative and provides loans for:
- Farms and country homes
- Land purchase, home construction, or improvements
- Buildings, machinery, livestock or equipment
- Production capital for both full-time and part-time farmers
- Ag-related businesses
Colonial Farm Credit has approximately 80 employees and office hours are 8 AM-4:30 PM Monday through Friday. We currently have an excellent employment opportunity for a loan officer trainee/loan officer in our Windsor VA office, which primarily services the Virginia counties of Dinwiddie, Greensville, Isle of Wight, Prince George, Southampton, Surry, and Sussex along with the cities of Chesapeake, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach.
The position will:
- serve present and prospective member customers with sound loans according to Association and district policies, standards, and procedures
- formulate business development strategies that target potential Farm Credit member customers, as well as referrals from builders, realtors, and other sources
- service assigned existing loans within delegated authorities
- represent the Association at local events and meetings
- promote related services to all current and prospective member customers
Education, Experience, and Requirements (things you need to be successful)
1. Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field (agricultural economics preferred), finance, or economics
2. Familiarity with the service area
3. Residence in territory served by the Windsor offices or contiguous counties
4. Agricultural background preferred and beneficial to employee
5. Strong interpersonal, sales, negotiating, and problem solving skills
6. Strong analytical, judgment, and communication (oral and written) skills
7. Computer experience with intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
8. Registration (current registration or ability to successfully register) with National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). This process requires fingerprinting; however, licensing is not required.
9. Awareness of current economic developments and production technology affecting agriculture in the region
10. Att end networking opportunities and community events in order to build influencer relationships and foster business development
11. Ability to:
a. be assertive and decisive in arriving at sound business decisions
b. effectively handle multiple tasks and work independently
c. travel to/from prospective and current customers as well as industry functions
12. Acceptable background reports (credit, criminal, driving, education, and drug screen)
13. Other: Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to stand for limited periods of time. Ability to walk for moderate distances. Frequent finger/hand manipulation (e.g. keyboard, office equipment, small hand tools, etc.). Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling while exerting up to 50 pounds of force. Regular attendance is required in this job.
