Texas Tissue Converting is currently hiring a Maintenance Mechanic for our Manufacturing Facility in Conroe, TX!
This position is responsible for machine reliability through troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on industrial paper converting equipment. Troubleshooting, installing, aligning, dismantling, repairing, and maintaining machinery for improved reliability and uptime. Installing and repairing mechanical drives, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, belts, couplings, etc. including electronic components.

This position requires ability to work a rotating schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays as well as the flexibility to be on call, work any shift, and work overtime as needed.
Position Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot issues on machines to ensure products meet specifications
- Maintain the cleanliness, functionality, safety of equipment and work areas always
- Maintain plant infrastructure (air, water, etc.)
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correctly repair issues as necessary
- Communicates with supervisors & staff to identify maintenance issues and repair needs
- Performs frequent machine inspections at various critical points of machine lines
- Provide & perform preventive, scheduled and emergency or unscheduled repairs of machinery, and plant.
- Perform precision alignment of motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, couplings, bearings, pumps, and lubrication.
- Perform change over on machines for different products with production team by providing guidance in machine issues.
- Creates and follow maintenance standard operating procedures
- Documents maintenance and repairs in MMS systems
- Assists in training others on the line and within the maintenance department.
- Assist machine operators troubleshoot failed quality checks on product and wrapping at various critical points in process.
- Make equipment adjustments to support maximum optimal efficiency.
- Follows Safety and Operations Procedures & Policies
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Maintenance and/or Mechanical Maintenance Certifications/Training preferred
- Technical, Electrical, and/or Mechanical Machine Repair Training/Certifications preferred
Experience/Qualifications:
- Manufacturing industry experience required
- Basic electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting knowledge
- 5-15 years of mechanic experience required
- Ability to utilize CMMS
- Welding, plumbing, and pipe fitting experience preferred
Require Skills/Knowledge:
- Ability to communicate, apply, understand, and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form as well as addressing any relevant issue or problems.
- Ability to repair both electrical and mechanical systems in accordance with mechanical and electrical drawings, operations manual, instructions, gauges, micrometers and manufacturers specifications as well as identify various parts,
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics.
Physical Ability and Demand : Must be able to lift, sit, stand, or walk for long period of times. Tasks involve the ability to exert physical effort in sedentary to movement type work, but which may involve lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of minimal weight. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a sedentary or movement type work. The following are the parameters this job may require:
- Walking: Constantly for up to 12 hours
- Standing: Constantly for up to 12 hours
- Lifting: Regularly and Constantly from 0-50 lbs.
- Pushing, Pulling, Twisting and Climbing: Often up to 12 hours
- Stooping, Kneeling, crawling: Often up to 3 hours
- Reaching, grasping, repetitive motions; Regularly and constantly up to 10 hours
Environmental Factors : Tasks are regularly performed with exposure to environmental conditions, such as but not limited to; dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, machine hazards.
