Job Summary:


The Associate Director of Orientation and New Student Experience serves in the Division of Student Success at St. John's University and handles a comprehensive, year-round new student orientation program that strengthens the connection of new students and their families to the university in their first year.


Essential Functions:


The Associate Director will oversee the selection, training, and development of a team of Undergraduate Orientation Coordinators, Orientation Leaders, Group Zero (student workers), and a graduate assistant. The successful candidate will also support the first-year seminar program (Discover New York), new student convocation, and family weekend.

Competencies:


The ideal candidate will be a strong leader, who is grounded in student development knowledge and experience with a creative-minded and detail-oriented approach. They will be able to build and sustain strong partnerships with campus partners and outside vendors to effectively engage first year, transfer, graduate, and international students and exposing them to the traditions and value of a St. John's education.


Supervisory Responsibility:


The Associate Director will oversee the selection, training, and development of a team of Undergraduate Orientation Coordinators, Orientation Leaders, Group Zero (student workers), and a graduate assistant.


Work Environment:


This position operates in a professional office environment and the incumbent is required to use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; move about; sit; to carry work; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; and communicate. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:


This position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will require evening and weekend hours. Travel is primarily local and may include visits to the other NY campuses.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $65,000-$74,000. St. John's University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

This position may be relocated to any of St. John's University's physical locations at any time.
