Job description

The Network/Infrastructure Engineer’s role is to work with the Sr. Manager of IT to specify, build, and maintain all the hardware components within the IT umbrella (Servers, Firewalls, Routers, Switches, etc....). This includes responsibility for being up to date on all of the latest products available on the market and recommending products that will enhance the overall work experience of all Renaissance employees. The IT Network/Infrastructure Engineer will also act as the second level of support to the existing help desk team in troubleshooting issues which arise and need specific system knowledge.

• Ensure infrastructure and services maintain the required level of availability, reliability, scalability, and performance across the entire campus.
• Physical/virtual server administration
• Active Directory Management
• Backup administration
• Provide technical support and guidance to helpdesk staff
• Research new technology areas, innovations, and ideas to improve/modernize IT systems
• Create/update infrastructure documentation
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
• Design, deploy, configure, and maintain the firm’s server infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability and performance. Server infrastructure includes physical and virtual servers (VMWARE).
• Monitor server performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively address performance issues to ensure the optimal performance of all servers and serve as internal person for escalation of server issues.
• Assist the IT Management in planning server requirements for projects and/or new applications, server migrations and ordering of equipment. Maintain and monitor maintenance contracts and track end of life for all servers.

 

Technical Requirements
• In-depth knowledge of server operating systems and server hardware
• Experience with Dell hardware (PowerEdge servers, PowerStore storage, laptops, and desktops)
• Extensive knowledge and experience with VMWARE required.
• Experienced in an environment that contains a minimum of 200 Virtual Machines consisting of Windows & Linux operating systems.
• Able to plan & perform upgrades of VSphere environment to latest versions and security updates.
• Be capable of using Powershell commands and writing scripts to perform tasks in the VSphere environment.
• Experienced with utilizing lun storage for VM deployments.
• Be proficient in utilizing VSphere console.

 

Additional desirable skills:

 

 

 

Bachelor’s   degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or graduate of a technical school. Relevant technical certifications are a plus. Experience:  At least eight (8) years of technical experience with proven experience as a server engineer for at least five (5) years.
