Job Summary
UT Southwestern Medical Center is hiring for Sustainability Coordinator in the Facilities Management department.
Works under minimum direction to plan, coordinate, and direct operations of the campus-wide sustainability/ energy use awareness program.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business sustainability, environmental science or studies.
- Three years’ experience with managing, leading and growing a sustainability, water and energy program with stakeholder engagement in either a medical or university setting.
- Sustainability Excellence Professional (SEP) or related certifications
- Master’s degree related in the areas of energy, sustainability, preferred.
Job Duties
- Develop, implements, administer, document and communicate a comprehensive campus wide sustainability initiatives and awareness program.
- Works directly with the Sustainability Committee to advance sustainability initiatives at UT Southwestern.
- Assesses the cost effectiveness, feasibility, and engagement by the campus community of all sustainability program initiatives and seeks to achieve habit transformation from students, faculty, and staff.
- Collaborate and interact with a variety of departments to enhance existing initiatives and determine strategies that would be initiated successfully within unique department operations.
- Establishes and maintains effective communication strategies, including website, newsletter, social media and other methods for promoting campus sustainability initiatives internally.
- Provide input to institutional sustainability principles, standards and practices.
- May supervise existing staff and student voluntary sustainability program (Green Champions) with emphasis on best practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Work requires superb administrative and organizational skills.
- Work requires ability to work with divergent views on sustainability.
- Work requires endless persistence associated with advancing a sustainability / energy use awareness program.
- Work requires ability to maintain a sustainability / energy use multimedia presence (webpage, newsletter, blog, Facebook, etc.).
- Work requires excellent people skills, working with a diverse population, and excellent oral presentation skills.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed primarily in general office area. Working conditions may involve moderate exposure to disagreeable elements, such as dust, dirt, heat, fumes, etc.
