Nurse Practitioner - Mental Health
Location: Mike O'Callaghan Military Medical Center at Nellis AFB, NV.
Position Type- Onsite
EM Key Solutions is seeking a Full-Time Psychiatric Certified Nurse Practitioner supporting the Mental Health clinic Mike O'Callaghan Military Medical Center at Nellis AFB, NV. Applicants must possess the ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
The work Schedule:
- Monday-Friday between 7:30-6:30, 4 days per week that will consist of 10-hour shifts or 7:30-6:30, 5 days per week that will consist of 8-hour shifts, not to exceed 40 hours a week.
- On-Call Hours: The on-call time starts on a Tuesday and ends on a Tuesday (1 week). The hours will depend on number of calls received. HCW will be on call every 2-3 months.
- Overage Hours: May require overage hours to provide effective patient care and avoid patient abandonment.
Job-Specific Position Duties:
- Performs psychiatric evaluations and treatment. Examines, evaluates, diagnoses, and treats psychiatric disorders; manages and directs psychiatric services. Conducts intake evaluations on a routine and emergency basis, including Commander-directed mental health evaluations in accordance with applicable USAF and DoD guidelines. Prepares and reviews case histories and obtains and evaluates data through interviews. Assembles the assessment findings into a written document. Prescribes and evaluates the effectiveness of a wide range of therapeutic measures. Integrates findings and formulates clinical information to establish a diagnosis IA W criteria set down in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders of the American Psychiatric Association. Determines the appropriate treatment setting and provides a variety of treatment modalities in an outpatient setting, which include psychopharmacology and the traditional interactive psychotherapies. Refers, coordinates, and facilitates inpatient admissions for admission to psychiatric inpatient or partial hospitalization facilities.
- Provides psychiatric consultation to mental health flight providers and other medical providers for patients who present with complicated psychiatric conditions. Provides psychiatric liaison services for active duty military patients hospitalized in an inpatient psychiatric facility. Responds to consultation requests, conducts assessments, and offers guidance for other providers in treating patients who present with secondary psychiatric complaints. Serves as a member of the mental health flight multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Provides psychiatric consultation and recommendations to installation's medical, legal, and military leadership; and is therefore recognized as the subject matter expert in respect of the psychiatry program regarding issues related to active duty patients' fitness/suitability, discipline, retraining, reassignment, granting of security clearances and special duty that requires a high degree of reliability and trust ( g., working with weapon systems, flying operations and other sensitive duties). Prepares psychiatric assessments/or Medical Evaluation Boards and commander-directed evaluations. Performs psychiatric evaluations of retired military members placed on TDRL (Temporary Disability Retired List) status and submits opinions and recommendations on their present psychiatric condition, retainability, and/or other advisable disposition. Provides on-call emergency support during and after clinic hours. Also performs psychiatric evaluations of civilians per request of the Office of Personnel Management and/or the Department of Defense in relation to their employment and to determine their eligibility, retention, discharge, security clearance determination, or other appropriate actions.
- Provides psychiatric training for the mental health flight and other physicians as requested by the Chief of Hospital Services, the Mental Health Flight Commander, and/or the Mental Health Element Chief. Conducts psychiatric training (both academic and practical) to mental health staff, interns, students, and residents in regard to conducting intake evaluations, mental, behavioral, or emotional disorders, pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, family therapy, behavior modification, consultation to the courts, and emergency psychiatry as well as the ordering of diagnostic, laboratory tests, and prescribe Incumbent works with the chief of the 99 MDG Mental Health Office on program development and appropriate outcome research. Lectures to the general medical community.
RECRUITMENT KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):
- Expert knowledge of psychiatry and general
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of the Diagnosis and Statistic Manual of Mental Disorders and its nomenclature.
- Thorough knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities for individual, family, and group psychotherapies for a full range of adult psychiatric Techniques and modalities are based on accepted theories, principles, and practices.
- Skill in oral and written communication and ability to work well with others in a team
- Ability to use a computer for word processing, data management, and the prescribing
- Ability to provide guidance and consultation services to medical professionals, community agencies, and military commands.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Master's or doctoral degree in nursing. Graduate from an academic program within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
- Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing, At least 5 years of experience working in a mental health clinic.
- Licensure: Maintain an active, valid, current, and unrestricted license (with no limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions) to practice nursing as a Nurse Practitioner from any state or territory of the United States or District of Columbia.
- Clinical Certification: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner .
- Certification: The HCW shall hold and maintain BLS and ACLS. It must be through American Heart Association or American Red Cross guidelines. Certified in the specialty required by the TO as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, American Nurses Association, National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Specialties).
