Position Summary:
The NewNa Energy (N2E) company seeks qualified, innovation-focused battery scientists to join our R&D team. The ideal candidates must have the desire to work in a fast-paced, flexible work environment with the willingness to apply their skills and expertise in battery R&D. The positions will work closely with and report directly to the CTO. Job Duties for Battery Scientist:
- Compose and conduct experiments on prototype cells, including but not limited to electrochemical testing, abuse tests, and cell teardowns.
- Conduct materials, formulation, and design evaluations for new generations of electrolyte and/or electrode materials.
- Design and execute experiments to collect essential battery data.
- Method development to implement new and existing techniques to advance research and development goals.
- Develop empirical and theoretical models to guide electrolyte and battery designs.
- Effectively document and communicate project progress and technical challenges to team members through technical progress reports and PowerPoint presentations.
- Contribute to grant writing and patent applications.
Desired Qualifications / Experience for Scientists :
- Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science with 2+ years of experience in metal-ion (Li or Na) batteries.
- Experience in two or more of the following areas: lithium battery, sodium battery, cathodes, anodes, electrode formulations, electrolytes, and integration of materials into cells.
- Fluent in electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and standard potentiostatic and galvanostatic methods.
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of lithium or sodium battery materials, components, performance, cell testing/data analysis, and failure modes.
- Demonstrated capability of designing experiments to enable accurate and precise results that drive decisions in an industrial R&D environment.
- Effective time management with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated and a team player.
- Strong technical report writing, presentation, and oral communication skills.
- Experience with grant or other funding applications is a plus.
- The applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States .

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
