Description The German Area Studies Program at Hobart and William Smith Colleges invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor to begin August 1, 2024. This is a full-time, one-year position with a teaching load of three courses per semester. The successful candidate will teach German language courses at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. In all courses, teaching approaches and materials should foster an inclusive environment that welcomes and supports diverse people and ideas. Hobart and William Smith Colleges are committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive community. Experience with and/or interest in working in a multicultural environment, and supporting and encouraging excellence from students with diverse and varied backgrounds and experiences is highly desirable.
The salary range for this position is $55,244-$63,499.
Qualifications Minimum requirements: M.A. in German language/literature/culture/second language acquisition/applied linguistics at the time of appointment (ABD or PhD preferred), native or near-native fluency in German and English, significant teaching experience of German as a second/foreign language (college level) at different levels, broad-ranging expertise in current methodologies, as well as expertise in the integration of technology in the classroom. Research profile in foreign language pedagogy or teaching-oriented perspectives on literature and culture, as well as experience working with the
Auf gehts! curriculum a plus.
