Job description
The Safety Coordinator Lead will be responsible for leading and motivating their team members each day. This position will be the point of contact for all safety coordinators as well as ensuring completion of all Safety – Loss Prevention issues related to the drivers within the fleet while adhering to Covenant standard operating procedures, as well as maintaining compliance with applicable federal and state DOT and other regulations.
• Updates spreadsheets daily, weekly, and monthly.
• Helps track and update company and department set KPI’s.
• Oversee daily operations with personnel issues and training.
• Must adhere to all FMCSA requirements as well as Company Policies set forth.
• Leads the implementation of new workflow processes.
• Audit all applicable areas to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures.
• Ability to handle escalated issues regarding expirations and completing reviews.
• Complete random driver checks to ensure drivers are following policies and regulations, placing equipment properly, driving safely, and completing pre/post trips.
• Capable of effectively coaching drivers to improve unsafe driver behaviors.
• Ability to keep a professional demeanor throughout reviews, phone calls, and in person meetings.
• Responsible for training new team members.
• Effectively communicate to all team members across the enterprise the importance of Safety.
• Collaborates with peers throughout departments in the enterprise, to determine needs and areas of improvement and help drive innovation.
• Investigates root cause of accidents through thorough investigations.
Knowledge Skills, and Abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong ability to manager time and meet deadlines.

• Strong organizational, leadership and motivational skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks especially when handling accident and incident reports.
• Understanding of Hours of Service, and the systems used to track it to include Omnitracs, Platform Science and Navigation.
• Strong organizational and workload management skills.
• Understanding of the Data Q process.
• In-depth knowledge of FMCSA regulations and CSA point system.
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1+ year of experience in Safety or equivalent role in logistics required.
• Prior leadership experience desired.

The system will be objective and non-discriminatory.
Pay Range: $45,007.59-$69,574.81
Pay Grade: 7
