Position description The department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for an Assistant Project Scientist in the Ji lab, in the area of in vivo brain imaging.
The Ji lab develops advanced microscopy methods for in vivo imaging of neuronal structure and function. The project is focused on testing novel neuronal sensors and new microscopy methods for the structural and functional imaging of neurons in the mouse brain in vivo.
The Assistant Project Scientist will test novel neuronal sensors and new microscopy methods for the structural and functional imaging of neurons in the mouse brain in vivo. They will prepare in vivo imaging samples, image these samples using commercial or homebuild microscopes, analyze the images using programming languages such as Matlab or Python, and contribute to the writing of manuscripts and reports.

Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
PhD (or equivalent international degree)
Preferred qualifications 3-4 years of research experience post-PhD
Publication record in peer reviewed journals
PhD in Biology, Neuroscience, Physics, or related field
Extensive experience with in vivo imaging of the mouse brain
Experienced with virus injection and chronic cranial window implant, in vivo brain imaging with commercial or homebuilt two-photon fluorescence microscopes, image analysis with Matlab or Python.
