The role….
We're seeking a highly motivated Retention Marketing Manager to contribute to the future of our business by implementing new programs to increase customer engagement, foster brand loyalty and build lasting customer relationships. You will create and manage the retention and lifecycle marketing strategy end-to-end from concept to deployment to performance analysis, ensuring we are maximizing touch points across our owned channels to increase customer lifetime value. This will include planning, coordinating, forecasting & executing all components of the email, SMS, and direct mail programs. You will also lead the strategy and optimization of the customer rewards and subscription programs. Your customer centricity, ability to drive business through all owned channels and love for data and analytics will ensure continuous optimization and performance improvement. Working in a fast paced environment with plenty of ownership, collaborating seamlessly through all departments, you will bring Solawave’s retention strategy to life while optimizing for maximum ROI.
Examples of the work you’ll own…
- Partner with the VP of Growth to strategically build the email, SMS, and direct mail marketing programs to drive customer engagement and revenue.
- Execute email, SMS, and direct mail marketing campaigns including lifecycle messaging, trigger-based and drip campaigns, regular promotions, product launches, and seasonal campaigns.
- Own and optimize the customer rewards and subscription programs to increase loyalty membership, grow subscriptions, and drive higher repurchase rates.
- Build and maintain performance reporting and analysis across channels and campaigns; monitor and report on key performance metrics to assess campaign effectiveness and overall business impact.
- Develop strategic tests in partnership with the VP of Growth, implement tests and build out digestible, custom reports for key stakeholders that provide actionable insights and inspire takeaways to drive business objectives.
- Manage the end-to-end execution process by working directly with our agency partners & creative team on creative briefs, audience segmentation strategy, review/feedback, A/B testing strategy, and insights reporting.
- Stay current with industry best practices, trends, and emerging technologies to proactively apply new knowledge.
Performance will be evaluated on KPIs such as…
- Customer Retention Rate
- Customer Lifetime Value (LTV)
- Revenue contribution from email, SMS, direct mail
- Revenue contribution from subscriptions
- Seamless collaboration and communication across the verticals
- Accuracy of campaign execution
- Quality of reporting
Requirements
What we are looking for…
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in retention marketing (including email and SMS channel ownership) in a DTC ecommerce environment.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Experience managing multiple email, SMS, and direct mail service providers and agencies.
- Proven track record of successfully driving customer retention through owned marketing channels, hands-on experience building campaigns from scratch, managing, and optimizing towards certain KPIs such as RPE, CTR, opt-in and opt-out rates, and deliverability.
- Deep understanding of email and SMS marketing best practices and compliance regulations.
- Ability to flex both creative and analytical muscles, applying out-of-the-box thinking to strategic problem-solving.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to synthesize complex information to articulately inform and persuade throughout the organization.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and execute work with a high degree of accuracy and quality.
- A collaborative mindset and openness to feedback.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous start-up environment.
- A positive, can-do attitude. You’re not deterred by minor setbacks and are able to swiftly overcome ambiguity.
- Ideally, passion for the beauty industry and desire to keep up with market trends.

- The Retention Marketing Manager reports to our VP of Growth, Amy Shah.
- Based in our LA office, located in Culver City, this role is expected to be in the office Monday through Thursday, with flex to work from home on Fridays, which may change in the future.
- Your base salary is just one part of your total compensation package. The base salary range is between $80,000 and $100,000. We carefully consider a wide range of factors to determine individual pay, including but not limited to job-specific skills, years of relevant experience, size of business & teams you’ve led and relevant education and/or professional training. Please note that the base salary range provided in this posting does not include any bonus, equity, or benefits you may be eligible for.
