Position Description:This position will participate in studies of (1) the mechanistic basis for the feed-forward relationship between chronic nicotine and chronic pain or (2) the mechanism(s) by which a vitamin B3 precursor and nutritional supplement can ameliorate chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain.
Education Requirement:A PhD in neurobiology, pharmacology, physiology, molecular biology or related disciplines is required, preferably within the past four years
Required Qualifications:Experience with one or more of the following is required: (1) assessment of spontaneous and evoked pain behaviors using reflexive or operant measures in conscious rodents, (2) generation of loss or gain of function phenotypes using conditional expression, CRISPR or RNAi in laboratory rodents, or (3) measurement of enzyme activity or levels of neurotransmitters and other proteins by HPLC-EC/UV or GC-MS methods of analysis.
