Flying Dog is Maryland’s largest brewery...and we’re looking for a Vice President of Sales to execute our sales strategy and grow our business. The expectation of this position is not the process or activities of selling, but its end result – achieving sales goals. The same can be said for your efforts in our annual softball game, we play to win.
The Vice President of Sales will oversee Flying Dog Brewery's sales team and distributor network. This position is responsible for delivering on the company's sales goals through effective business planning, distributor execution, retail execution oversight, customer relationship management and budget management. The VP of Sales is responsible to lead, manage, and coach the national sales team and is responsible for delivering results and managing the performance of the sales team.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of sales strategies, objectives, goals, and tactics that support the brand, the business, and financial goals
- Build and develop a high performing sales team. Coach and manage the sales team overall performance, define expectations, and monitor progress
- Lead the sales team and align their efforts at all levels of sales, toward achieving results
- Develop and implement effective sale plans and programs to drive growth, generate revenue, and increase market share
- Build partnerships with distributors, adding more value than competitors through the contributions of peoples, systems, brands, brand support tools
- Conduct sales reviews with each assigned division to address market-specific tactics, revise forecasts, and support achievement of business priorities
- Develop and maintain the highest quality standards of retail executions
- Manage all sales logistics including brand priorities, brand mix, inventory, fulfillment, and pricing
- Establish and maintain high-level, executive contact with distributors and key accounts, focusing on the establishment and maintenance of strategic relationships
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop innovative sales programs and pricing strategies, build distributor and retailer share of mind, and discover valuable insights on emerging consumer trends
- Manage budgets to ensure dollars are allocated and spent efficiently and effectively within budgetary parameters; responsible for maintaining these budgets throughout the year, balancing expenditures against volume, and profitability expectations
- Develop and execute performance measures including planning and assigning work/responsibilities, developing goals/objectives, developing bonus and incentive programs both internally and externally, and managing overall performance of the sales team
The Must Haves:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in sales within beverage/alcohol industry
- 5+ years of experience leading a sales team in the alcohol industry
- Strong analytical skills- ability to decipher data in way that allows for identification of gaps, build out potential solutions and communicate out action plans to the team
- Proven ability to create and lead high-performing sales teams
- Extensive budget and project management experience
- Demonstrated ability to set and exceed aggressive goals
- Outstanding verbal, written, presentation and influencing skills
