What You Will Do


The Community Partnerships Office is seeking a skilled and experienced professional, with education experience and/or background, to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory's Math and Science Academy (MSA) and the Math Teacher Leader Network (MTLN), an association of math teacher leaders and their principals from various northern New Mexico public school districts. The design of the MTLN facilitates and strengthens high-quality mathematics teaching and learning, school leadership, and effective teaching and learning systems in northern New Mexico. The MSA staff designs and implements comprehensive teacher professional development programs in mathematics, effective mathematics teaching methods, instructional leadership, and continuous improvement systems, including summer institutes and school-year support that enable teachers and school leaders to understand and implement research-based educational practices in classrooms. The program involves regularly working at school sites with teachers and leaders and teaching courses online and in person that allow teachers to earn credits towards a master's degree and/or an Elementary Math Specialist Endorsement. Additionally, our team is responsible for working with external evaluators to design program evaluations and collect program data, obtain program funding, and communicate and promote program highlights.


As a Community Outreach Specialist 2 professional you will be working with the MSA team and an external evaluator to collect data, coordinate interviews and surveys, design assessments and evaluation tools, maintain databases, and complete any reports required for the group or division. You will propose, create, and design communication tools and products for audiences both within and external to the Laboratory. You will assist MSA staff in facilitating teacher and administrator professional learning communities.



What You Need



Minimum Job Requirements:



Education : Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of post baccalaureate work experience in a field related to the job requirements. Preference may be given for an advanced degree.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.



Clearance: L (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.





New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.



Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.



Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
