Accountant II Position Summary: Responsible for the day to day accounting functions, financial reporting for multiple companies, payroll, and sales/excise tax preparation and filings. Will also be responsible for the preparation and analyzing of complex financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to provide technical guidance and recommendations.
As an Accountant II, you will be responsible for:
- Recording and processing invoices, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions.
- Reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, and petty cash.
- Performing data entry and filing tasks and maintaining accurate and organized records.
- Preparing and maintaining financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Analyzing financial data and identifying trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assisting with payroll, tax, and compliance matters.
- Preparing and maintaining financial records, such as general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and tax filings.
- Participating in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Assisting with the preparation and filing of tax returns and other compliance documents.
- Performing audits and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes and providing variance explanations.
- Preparing and analyzing complex financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Researching and resolving accounting issues and discrepancies and providing technical guidance and recommendations.
- Liaising with external auditors, tax authorities, banks, and other stakeholders and preparing audit schedules and tax filings.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred. A CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and excellent verbal & written communication skills with the ability to interact and work effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization.
- At least three years of progressive work experience in accounting or auditing.
- Hands-on experience managing payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger & financial statement preparation, fixed assets, contracts, and sales/use/excise tax.
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel and accounting software, such as QuickBooks.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), international financial reporting standards (IFRS), and tax laws.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong numerical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to stay strong in beliefs and professional opinion in decision making and communicating to senior leadership.
