Job description

The school offers a coed program for young children at the Barat Center for Early Childhood Education and an all-girls experience from K-12 on our 110-acre campus in Greenwich, Connecticut.  We are a proud member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools.

We are currently seeking a Middle School Art teacher (80% position) for the 2024-2025 school year.

Reports to: Head of Middle School
FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary
The Middle School Art teacher is responsible for providing a stimulating and developmentally appropriate educational environment in a way that is in accordance with the Goals and Criteria of a Sacred Heart education and the philosophy that implements it.  This philosophy includes providing children with opportunities to develop spiritual, cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. 

Responsibilities Include:

• Responsible for teaching studio and digital art to students in grades 5-8 and serving as a Middle School Advisor
• Organize and provide developmentally appropriate educational programs and instruction; plan and implement curriculum and differentiated instruction for Middle School students that encourage curiosity, exploration, critical thinking, and problem-solving,
• Support the middle school faculty and enhance their academic curricula by providing activities and opportunities for arts integration while encouraging creativity, curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving;
• Create a supportive and caring classroom environment in which students can learn and interact positively with one another through student-centered instruction and authentic assessment; 
• Maintain an open and cooperative relationship with students, colleagues, and parents;
• Participate in Middle School faculty and departmental meetings; performing various faculty supervisory duties.

Qualifications 
Bachelors or Masters Degree in art or related field and experience in teaching middle school students preferred.
