Job description
Executive Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations Primary Purpose: University of the Pacific seeks a driven, strategic, and entrepreneurial Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations with the knowledge and skills to secure six and seven-figure gifts from foundations, corporations, and other private grant-making organizations locally, regionally, and beyond. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development, the Senior Director will work with senior university leadership, faculty, and staff to help guide and pursue funding opportunities that align with mission-driven priorities.
Essential Functions: - Responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of approximately 75 diverse CFR donors and prospects to promote long-term relationships with the university.
- Implements and manages a comprehensive development plan focused on expanding and enhancing foundation and corporate relationships; directs and coordinates activities related to obtaining foundation and corporate support at the major giving level.
- Works closely with university administrators, faculty, and other development personnel to build awareness and expand positive fund-raising relationships with foundation and corporate constituencies.
- Identifies key alumni within foundations/corporations and reviews corporate profiles that suggest potential relationships because of common interests.
- Takes an active role in researching potential funding prospects and manages assigned foundation and corporate prospects across the Universitys three campuses.
- Advises other university personnel on foundation and corporate areas of interest, in the cultivation of foundations and corporations, and in the development and presentation of proposals.
- Visits and develops relationships with foundation and corporate directors, presidents, and trustees on behalf of the University and arranges for foundation and corporate administrators to visit the campus.
- Assists senior administration and faculty in the preparation of proposals and other communication support, and at times assumes the full responsibility for proposal development from start to finish.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications: Education/Experience/Certifications:
- Bachelors Degree.
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible and successful work experience with foundation and/or corporate fundraising.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in a higher education environment.
- Demonstrated track record in successfully soliciting and stewarding 5 and 6-figure foundation and corporate grants.
- Demonstrated ability in grant and proposal writing at appropriate levels for varied proposal development.
- Excellent communication skills - both written and oral.
- Self-motivation and discipline to regularly set and achieve work goals.
- Excellent management, organizational, interpersonal, and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals are essential.
- Demonstrated responsibility for managing a diverse number of projects and completing them in a timely manner with limited supervision.
- Management experience.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment using a computer and phone. Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is performed during standard business hours. Additional hours may be required to meet business needs or deadlines.
Must be prepared to work non-business hours and weekends. Occasional travel, both local and overnight.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
A valid drivers license is required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the Universitys fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserve the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
Hiring Range: $110,000.00 to $125,000.00 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
