Job description
Laura Rathe Fine Art (LRFA), a leading contemporary art gallery in the Dallas Design District, is seeking a gallery coordinator to join their team. Prospective candidate must meet the following education and experience requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in the Arts &/or Business &/or Graphic Design from an accredited University
- 1-3 years experience in a gallery setting preferred
- Graphic Design knowledge required
Qualified applicants should be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and an outgoing team player. They must be highly organized and have a strong ability to multi-task. The prospective candidate will possess exemplary verbal and written communication skills in order to greet visitors and answer questions. A background in graphic design is preferred, as well as interest in art, curating, arts management, or the commercial art world. Candidate must be personable, easily retain information about artists and exhibits, and can remember names and faces. This candidate must also be available to work occasional Saturdays. JOB DESCRIPTION
Gallery Coordinator will work alongside the Gallery Director and Associate Director to perform administrative, curatorial, and promotional tasks such as:
- Coordinate all outbound shipping, request quotes from shipping vendors, and present quote summary to Director and Associate Director
- Conduct condition reports prior to all outbound shipments with photographs and inspection summary
- Create visual renderings, proposals, advertising, decal and show invites via Photoshop
- Prepare and create artwork presentations for clients, as needed
- Maintain, update and promote gallery social media outlets (i.e., Facebook, Instagram etc.)
- Facilitate marketing efforts through distribution of press releases for gallery exhibitions and events to local press outlets, online calendars and more.
- Enter and maintain gallery inventory via cloud-based databases and website such as ArtCld and Artsy
- Enter and maintain gallery contacts and new patrons in email database and direct mailing lists
- Assist with clients, prospective leads and appointments in the absence of Director and Associate director (i.e., email drafting, scheduling deliveries, etc.)
- Coordinate and communicate client delivery information prior to each appointment to the staff including the art handlers
- Help prepare client invoices and purchase orders
- Issue (physical & electronic) all certificates of valuation and authenticity for every sale
- Track all written vendor checks for accountant
- Allocating display materials such as wall tags for all artwork on display, as well as for any possible off-site events and consignment locations
- Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned
