Job description

Overview

This person will instruct and evaluate student performance in building automation controls and electrical technologies. This person will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction, and student advising in the Building Automation Technology, Electrical Technology, Electromechanical Maintenance Technology, Renewable Energy Technology, Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Occupations programs.

Qualifications

Education :

-Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Technology or related discipline OR, Bachelor's degree in Building Automation Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related discipline and seven (7) years' experience. (Minimum) 

-Formal coursework in education (Desired)

Experience :

-Five (5) years of practical experience that must include experience in: system design and/or programming of building automation/industrial automation controls; electrical, electromechanical, renewable energy and electronics equipment systems; or HVAC systems. (Minimum)

-Teaching experience at the college/university level. (Desired)

Abilities and Skills:

-Competence in oral and written communications skills. (Minimum)

-Developed organizational skills. (Minimum) 

-Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, faculty, and the public. (Minimum)

-Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues. (Minimum) 

-Possession of a valid driver's license. (Desired)

Responsibilities

-Teach courses in the theory, installation, and maintenance of building automation controls and equipment; electrical, electromechanical, and electronics equipment/systems; residential/commercial HVAC; electrical construction; and/or motor controls. (Essential) 

-Provide hands-on lab experiences and learning. (Essential) 

-Provide coordination and supervision for instructional field projects. (Essential) 

-Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate up-to-date records on students. (Essential) 

-Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines. (Essential) 

-Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development. (Essential) 

-Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance. (Essential) 

-Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities. (Essential) 

-Contribute to the betterment of the College through School committee participation. (Essential) 

-Contribute to the betterment of the College through College-wide committee participation. (Marginal) 

-Assist with the development of grant proposals and with follow-up activities. (Essential) 

-Comply with College safety, hazardous waste disposal, and recycling policies. (Essential) 

-Assist the Department Head in developing instructional material lists, capital and instructional equipment specifications, department budget requests, and assist in planning and development of master schedule proposals. (Essential) 

-Assist in providing tours and student recruitment activities scheduled by the College, school, and/or departments. (Essential)

-Assist the Dean, Assistant Dean, and/or Department Head with the development and maintenance of outcomes assessment plans and documentation. (Essential) 

-Assist the Department Head with the growth and development of the Renewable Energy Technology program. (Essential)

Physical Standards and Special Job Features

Physical Standards:

-Some lifting not to exceed 40 lbs. may be required. 

-Some working from ladders may be required.

Special Job Features:

-May include some travel to off-campus instructional project sites. 

-Finalists for this position must present a sample lesson.

-Candidates for teaching positions must be fluent in the English language (oral and written) - English Fluency in Higher Education Act. (Pennsylvania Senate Bill 539/Act No. 76)

-The terms and conditions of employment for this position are subject to all the provisions of the bargaining agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association.

-Position is subject to a background check.

Pay TransparencyCommensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2023/24 academic year is $59,299 – $77,142. The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association. If you are currently receiving an annuity from the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System, employment at Pennsylvania College of Technology may affect your annuity status. If you are currently a member of either the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System you may be required to contribute into the System.College Statement
