Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses in Cardiology

Qualifications:
- Degree/Education: Certificate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university, or vocational nursing program approved by the state agency. Graduates must have an unrestricted LVN/PN license.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
- Cardiology LVNs require Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Experience:
- One year of practical or vocational nursing experience in a critical care unit, Emergency Room, or Step-down Cardiology unit, or a combination of these units within the last 3 years.
Job Responsibilities:
- Initiate, Perform, and Complete Care: Provide comprehensive care to variable patient populations, ensuring their well-being and satisfaction.
- Patient-Centered Care: Complete assigned patient care based on patients' conditions, utilizing judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments.
- Observation and Response: Observe, identify, and respond to patients' needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care, and patient/family education.
- Medication Administration: Prepare and administer prescribed medications using various routes, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Emergency Response: Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance from RN and/or MD/DO, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed.
Work Environment: Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses - Cardiology, WHASC
- Work shifts between 0600 – 1830, Monday through Friday.
- Scheduled shifts at the discretion of the squadron commander (and may be further delegated as necessary).
- Normal work schedules include 9-hour shifts, with a 1-hour non-paid lunch each day.
- Not to exceed 40 hours per week or 80 hours per two weeks.
