Job description
Position Summary:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Program Coordinator for Student Accounting, Billing and Cashier Services department within the University Controller's Office. Reporting Senior Business Manager, the Senior Program Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing student billing for Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences ( RBHS ). With a student base of 7000 and revenues exceeding $175 million dollars, this position is critical to ensuring the accurate and timely issuance of student term bills.
Among the key duties of this position are the following.
- Reviews, analyzes and bills Board of Governors approved tuition and fees for the RBHS student population, adhering to federal regulations when issuing W-9 notifications and 1098T tax document.
- Works closely with the University Tax Director to provide data to the IRS , monitoring and responding to all inquiries.
- Act as primary liaison to the Office of Information Technology ( OIT .) Develops system requests and requests enhancements. Creates official requests and facilitates progress tracking with the team until completion.
- Works closely with contracted vendors in Student Accounting, Billing and Cashier Services. Assists in managing relationships between third parties, recommending best practices, integrating workflows, and participating in regular meetings.
- Performs various statistical and data analysis functions related to Student Accounting, Billing and Cashier Services for both ad-hoc and scheduled reporting. Proficient in using Banner, access and queries to obtain and report accurate data.
- Ensures continuous professional development by staying updated on regulatory changes and complying with University policies.
- Demonstrates strong analytical and accounting skills, maintaining an even temperament when providing courteous service to University staff, students, and third-party service providers.
- Engages in daily interaction with other Rutgers University departments including Financial Aid, Chancellor Units and the other areas of Student Accounting Billing and Cashier Services.
- Interacts with the university's payment and refund partners, students and parents.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferably in accounting, business, finance, communications or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- A minimum of two years of progressive experience in a University Student Accounting environment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- The incumbent will be expected to travel between and work out of multiple locations ( ASB , Records Hall, 33 Knightsbridge, etc.) on a regular basis. Occasional travel to the Newark and Camden campuses, as well as travel inside and outside of the state, in order to attend trainings, conferences, meetings with vendors, peers from fellow higher educational institutions, etc.
