Job Description:
Join TriLab Health, a leading healthcare laboratory in Elmhurst, IL, as a full-time Lab Biller/Coder/Collections Specialist. This vital position oversees our billing processes to ensure accurate medical coding and maximizes reimbursement from insurance companies and patients alike. With a requirement of 5 years in billing/coding and a strong preference for experience in laboratory services, the successful candidate will bring expertise in healthcare finance, a dedication to regulatory compliance, and a patient-focused approach to financial matters.
Responsibilities:
- Medical Coding:
- Accurately assign diagnostic and procedural codes to ensure correct billing.
- Stay current with coding updates and healthcare regulation changes.
- Billing Process:
- Timely generate and submit claims to insurance providers.
- Ensure accuracy in patient and insurance information.
- Identify and correct billing errors or discrepancies.
- Collections:
- Diligently monitor outstanding claims and pursue collections with insurance carriers.
- Conduct proactive collection efforts for unpaid balances.
- Resolve claim denials or discrepancies in collaboration with insurance representatives.
- Patient Billing:
- Issue patient invoices for services rendered.
- Offer support with billing inquiries, establishing payment plans as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Keep organized records of billing and coding activities.
- Prepare reports on billing and collection performance.
- Compliance:
- Adhere to healthcare regulations and billing standards.
- Maintain awareness of changes in healthcare policies affecting billing practices.
- Customer Service:
- Respond to inquiries from patients and insurance companies regarding billing issues.
- Deliver exceptional service in a professional and courteous manner.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Strong knowledge of medical coding systems (e.g., CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS).
- Experience with laboratory services billing is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with patients, insurers, and team members.
