Role and Responsibilities
- Designing MV & LV power distribution systems for heavy industrial plants.
- Design and develop electrical power, instrumentation and control system plans, drawing packages and specifications for assigned projects.
- Design electrical layout drawings, power single line drawings, conduit/cable tray routing drawings, lighting drawings, grounding drawing, panel drawings, installation drawings, etc. as required for assigned projects.
- Perform electrical calculations like voltage drop, cable sizing, and raceway sizing.
- Prepare technical reports.
- Design layouts for PLC, RTU & SCADA Panels.
- Preparing instrument index, I/O list and instrument specifications.
- Participate in development of P&IDs.
- Perform design of controls systems, motor drives, programmable controllers, hardware, and instrumentation.
- Ensure coordination between the electrical process and all other disciplines, including outside vendor packages and existing customer infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with NEC code, electrical industrial design standards, and equipment design standards.
- Represent the electrical engineering team in client meetings, supplier meetings, and design review meetings.
- Visit project sites as the electrical design engineer as required.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) — preferred.
- 5+ years of professional experience in Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls.
- 5+ years of experience for heavy industrial installation projects including designing power distribution systems (480V to 69KV), MV switchgear, LV switchgear, motor control centers, low voltage power distribution, instrumentation and controls, communications, standby power systems, and development of load and fault current calculations, power flow models, and short circuit analysis.
- Knowledge and understanding of controls systems governed by platforms such as Allen Bradley CompactLogix, ControlLogix, etc.
- Experience with HMI interfaces such as FactoryTalk View, Rockwell Historian, etc.
- Must possess a solid background in the development of technical plans and specifications and clear understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Experience in performing electrical power studies such as load flow, short circuit, device co-ordination, arc flash etc. using softwares such as ETAP, Easypower, or SKM.
- Control system programming, field start-up and commissioning experience.
- Field installation and commissioning experience.
