Job description
Our Mission: Since the 1893 World Columbian Exposition, our organization has aimed to connect people to the natural environment and human history.
Reporting to the Membership Manager (Programs) (MMP), the Membership Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day tasks of the membership office and will assist in all aspects of the membership program. The Ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in the Museum, fundraising, and event planning.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage weekly fulfillment of member and donor digital/physical cards, and gift memberships
- Serve as the primary point of contact for membership customer service, respond to member queries, liaise with the Membership team to address member issues, monitor membership call lines and email, and provide exceptional customer service
- Manage the Gift membership program by handling inquiries, fulfilling gift certificates, and activating gift memberships
- Under the supervision of the MMP, coordinate the Annual Members' Nights working closely with all departments within the Museum; coordinate other Member events as assigned, including lectures, exhibition previews and openings, and holiday lounge
- Provide data and processing support for the Membership team; provide secondary support for data clean up, acknowledgement letters, pre- and post-event needs, member newsletters content development, etc
- Produce weekly progress reports
- Process invoices and record expenses to ensure membership budget is being met, and assist in maintaining budget
- Provide additional membership support on the museum floor as needed
- Compile member survey results, monitor member-satisfaction and further program enhancement, conduct benchmarking with peer institutions
- Other duties as assigned
?Qualifications
- BA or an equivalent level of education and experience is required
- One to two years of experience in a membership/development team
- Excellent customer service
- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google experience is required; experience with ACME (point of sale system) and Raisers Edge (database) experience is desirable
- Experience planning and implementing events is a plus
- Adobe suite (InDesign, Photoshop etc) experience is a plus
- Friendly and courteous phone demeanor; excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; attention to detail is a must
- Must exercise tact and discretion in handling highly confidential information and interacting with Museum members and donors
- Must be well-organized, able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines. Must work well independently and as part of a team
- Should be able to lift up to 20 pounds and stand/walk for long periods of time
- Some evening and weekend hours may be required
