Gensco’s Internship Program provides an amazing, hands-on opportunity to become familiar with our business and industry by learning Gensco’s customer service philosophy, operating processes and procedures.
Gensco’s Purchasing Internship offers:
- Schedule - Monday-Friday day shift schedule, weekends off
- Flexible Start & End Date - we work with your school schedule, start dates as early as May 1st and completion date as late as September 30th with a minimum of 10 weeks participation
- Paid Internship - full Time pay range $18-$23 per hour based on experience
- Engagement - with Interns at other locations through planned events and scheduled Zoom calls
- Training - working directly with our Purchasing Team in our Corporate Office in Fife, WA.
- Mentorship - regular meetings and ongoing interaction with the Purchasing Manager to learn more about Gensco’s business, career growth and development opportunities throughout the company
- Job Duties
- Assist and support Buyers and Purchasing Agents to include, but not limited to: setup of new suppliers, setup and updating of new items with updated costs, maintenance of supplier contacts, clean up and maintain stock item descriptions in P21, purchase order tracking and status, and freight claim management.
- Perform office/departmental duties such as filing, preparing mailings/communications, distributing interoffice mail or printed materials such as supplier catalogs, price books, etc.
- Intern Huddle Up July 9-10 - Interns from all locations spend 2 days at our Tacoma Campus for Intern events, presentations by all business units, tour of Tacoma Distribution Center, Columbia Sheet Metal Manufacturing, and Corporate Offices
- Job Shadow - offered on day 2 of Huddle Up another Gensco department of interest including Accounting, Marketing, Operations, Sales, Manufacturing, IT, or Human Resources
- Qualifications - Internship is open to graduates up to 1 year past graduation. Candidate needs to be very analytical, proactive, self-motivated, outgoing and personable with strong people skills, and a creative thinker. All housing and relocation expenses are Intern's responsibility
- Experience - Very proficient with operating a personal computer and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software
- Future Career Opportunity - Interns who successfully complete the Internship Program may be considered for full-time employment following graduation
