About the Role:
Aquila is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. A System Administrator is needed to support the development of new technologies that enable worldwide networked operations for the military and other government agencies. The group addresses the needs of next-generation airborne, and terrestrial networks using its core expertise in fiber and free-space optics, network protocols and services, information operations, and communications processing. The group is extensively involved in field experimentation and measurement campaigns to verify algorithms and architectural concepts in operational environments.
There are a few requirements for the position: - Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
- Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
- Reside within 100 miles of Lexington, Massachusetts.
Responsibilities:
- Looking for a Linux Systems Administrator with approximately 5 years of Linux administration experience (slightly more junior or senior is acceptable)
- Domains: IT Infrastructure, Networking, system architecture design, system configuration management, system troubleshooting, and database management.
- Responsible for management, administration, and support of all MIT/LL IT systems’ infrastructure in the Group.
- Support additional technologies as they are adopted by the Group and/or Laboratory.
- Responsible for vulnerability remediation on secure and unclassified Laboratory systems. Addressing Cat 1, 2, and 3 issues in a timely manner
- Recognizing and troubleshooting issues with developer’s machines as they occur across a variety of Operating Systems. Windows, Linux, Mac OS, etc.
- Perform all related duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring:
- 3 years of Linux command line
- 3 years of Linux network configuration
- 3 years of Linux server/workstation administration
- 3 years of Scripting Languages: Perl, Python, Shell Scripting, Powershell.
- 5 years of Redhat Linux Systems Administration
- 3 years of Technologies including DNS, DHCP, Proxy and Load Balancing
- 3 years of Virtualization Technologies (VMware, including ESXi and VCenter configuration)
Working Knowledge of the Following:
- Operating Systems: RedHat Enterprise Linux, VMware
- Hardware: Dell
- Software/applications: RedHat IDM, Windows AD, Enterprise Central Logging, LDAP, Java, Splunk, SQL, VMware vCenter/ESXI/vSAN, Github.
- Networking applications and protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, SSH, FTP, and
- Programming Languages: Ansible, Shell Scripting, Python, PowerShell.
- Skilled at centralized authentication (SSSD, IDM, Active Directory)
- Responsible for configuring and maintaining (physical and virtual) servers and researcher workstations
- Candidate must be team-oriented, enthusiastic, innovative, and motivated self-starters able to work independently, or with a group, to achieve program requirements.
- Candidate must possess strong oral and written communication skills and must be able to present.
And These Skills are a Bonus:
- Linux RealTime Kernel support experience is a bonus
- Experience managing classified IT systems, STIGs, SCAPS, RMFThis experience is HIGHLY preferred
- Certification(s) in one or more of the following disciplines: Solaris administration, Red Hat, VMWare, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP); CompTIA Security+; Linux Professional Institute Certification.
- Candidates will be required to obtain a CompTIA Security+ certification within 6 months of starting if they do not have one when the assignment begins.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Hardening Linux and Windows systems per RMF and DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides
- Ansible Automation Platform to Support Linux systems
- Administering classified Linux systems
- Configure and Manage Centralized Logging and Audit Capabilities
- Enterprise Backup Solutions
- Macintosh and iOS platform(s)
- MS Active Directory, LDAP

Work Schedule: This role is 100% onsite. The role will ultimately be working in a classified space. Must be within a commutable distance from Lexington, MA.

Clearance: Interim secret is sufficient for start but this person must be able and willing to clear up to TS right from the start of the assignment.
