Oak Park and River Forest High School , or OPRF , is a comprehensive public high school located in Oak Park, Ill., a suburb eight miles due west of downtown Chicago. We are a one-school district, with the majority of our students coming from two sender districts, River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. We offer more than 200 courses, a variety of programs for students with special needs, 75 clubs and activities, and 29 competitive sports. We prepare our students well for post-secondary success, with an average ACT composite score of 24 and a 94% graduation rate.
Oak Park and River Forest are communities that highly value diversity. OPRF is a founding member of the national Minority Student Achievement Network, and our school is racially and economically diverse, with about 44% of our 3,300 students identifying as African-American, Hispanic, multiracial, or Asian. Qualifications:
- Completed requirements for a Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Hold or be eligible for an Illinois Professional Secondary Education License with a senior high school endorsement in History.
- Additional endorsements in related social science fields preferred, especially Civics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology. Coursework in Asian history, Middle Eastern history, and Law also beneficial.
- ELL endorsement preferred.
- Knowledge of the Common Core standards and C3 Framework.
- Experience with Google, Google Apps, & Chromebooks.

Position Summary: The employee in this position must provide History and/or Social Science instruction to students at the high school level. The Oak Park & River Forest High School District 200 (OPRF) seeks a candidate with strong History/Social Science teaching skills, knowledge and experience. Regionally competitive salary and benefits are provided.
Essential Duties: (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Keep detailed records of student attendance.
- Manage classroom behavior to ensure safety and optimal educational benefit for students.
- Create and implement student-centered lessons that are aligned to the curriculum, History Division Priority Standards, and the National Common Core Standards.
- Create engaging lessons that develop student critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Formatively assess students providing appropriate feedback and interventions when necessary.
- Keep students and parents well informed of student progress.
- Keep records of individual student instructional and behavioral interventions.
- Participate in a Teacher Collaborative Team (TCT) one to two times each month.
- Actively contribute value to the TCT.
- Use available technology to enhance instruction and increase student understanding.
- Attend one divisional or faculty meeting each month outside of the regular school day.
- Actively engage in the creation and dissemination of common unit tests and final exams for each subject.
- Participate in school wide professional development and seek continual feedback and coaching to develop as a teacher.
- Perform supervisory duty (hall monitor, study hall, or tutoring center) one hour per day.
- Dress professionally and uphold all school policies.
- Abide by all state and federal mandates in reporting sexual or physical abuse and neglect.
