Office of Mineral Resources – Petroleum Lands Division
The Office of Mineral Resources (OMR) was established to manage the state’s mineral assets in granting and administering leases on state-owned lands and water bottoms for developing and producing, primarily oil and gas, as a means of revenue in the form of royalties, bonuses, and rentals to the state’s general fund. OMR is one of the largest receivers of state revenues. The office receives revenues from royalties, bonuses, rentals, interest, and fees for leases on state-owned lands and water bottoms. Revenues from these sources comprise approximately 6 - 8% of the state's general fund. In addition to the general fund, revenues collected also provide major sources of funding for parish governments, school boards, the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, and the Department of Natural Resources.
Employees are eligible for flexible work schedules upon hire and 2 days of telework after 6 months.
LOCATION & POSITION INFORMATION:
This position is located in the Petroleum Lands Division within the Office of Mineral Resources in Baton Rouge, LA. General supervision is received directly from the Petroleum Lands Director. The position determines the accuracy of documents and agreements dealing with state owned lands and water bottoms. The incumbent must have a sound understanding of all systems utilized in work responsibilities, including SONRIS database, document access, and GIS. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Determine the viability of releases and partial releases of interests in state mineral leases and operating agreements, with regard to legal descriptions of released and retained portions.
- Evaluates and interprets all forms of state mineral leases terminology in processing lease maintenance payments.
- Performs complex title rebuilds of ownership working interest in state leases and state agency leases and update ownership records accordingly.
- Participate in monthly State Mineral and Energy Board Meetings and State Lease Sales.

**Note regarding the advertised pay range: The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career and not the amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
